Back to School

Today was the big day.  Both girls are in school ALL DAY!!  Charlotte was SO excited to start first grade and get to have gym, lunch, and recess (longer than 10 minutes anyway).  I was a little bit sad she wanted to be gone all day, but I know she is just ready and time to be one of the big kids.  Brooke was a little nervous because she has to switch classes for math and reading, but I'm sure she will be just fine! 

 Nathan has his first teaching job tonight...just a part time gig, but he's excited too!

Fun with cousin Addie

Addie came to town and we had a few days to play with her before the girls had to start school.  We went to Bounce Planet, the Children's museum, swimming, and even had a sleepover!  (Which is almost unheard of at our house, except for cousins)

A perfect day at the zoo!

Who knew we would find a perfect, cool day in August to go to the zoo???  This summer has been so unpredictable, but I'll take a cool, partly cloudy, sprinkling, 78 degree day in August and I'll go to the zoo!

As soon as we got there, we saw on the schedule there was a tiger training coming up.  We weren't sure what it was all about but we decided to head on over that way.  We were glad we did.  Have you ever seen a tiger stand up on two legs?  And those eyes???  That was definitely a first. 

We were bummed the dolphin show has been canceled for a few months because of the birth of a new baby dolphin.  We had planned on seeing it because we haven't seen it in a few years.  But we could still go to the underneath part, which is cool too.

 Just as we were leaving we saw some of the trainers with the sea lions.  They were kissing each other...

 Then kissed one of the trainers...eww!!!  Hope she washes her face later!

It sprinkled on us a few times, but never lasted long.  So it was a perfect day for the zoo!

Nauvoo 2012

For the second year in a row, we took a trip to Nauvoo, IL.  This year we invited some friends to come with us and saw the pageant while we were there.  There is always so much to see and do! 

Timny McChesney

Nathan and I happened to get FREE tix to the Tim McGraw/Kenny Chesney (aka Timny  McChesney) concert on Saturday.  It was awesome!  We were supposed to be going bowling with friends that night, so I'm still apologizing for that. ;-)

Just a side note:  Nathan asked me to go to a Kenny Chesney concert on our second date, almost 13 years ago.  At the time, I had no idea who he was.  But I liked Nathan, and he liked country, so of course I was going to go!  It was at the Little Nashville Opry in Nashville, IN.  Sadly, the Little Nashville Opry burned down a few years ago.  So many memories there...we went to several concerts there over the years.  Anyway, we went to the concert and had back row seats.  But it wasn't a big place, so it wasn't too hard to see.  Nathan wore his cowboy hat and boots.  Yea, can you picture that???  Probably not.  LOL.  It was at this concert that I first heard, "She Thinks my Tractor's Sexy".

I'm not sure if I knew what to think when I heard this song and this boy that I liked.  But, it grew on me after a while, and I just know I loved listening to Nathan sing his country songs.  I think I was hooked...on country music and the boy. ;-)
