Odds and Ends

Well, I'm trying to give my blog a make over. It doesn't seem to be working out so well. I can't seem how to figure out how to get my main picture centered!! Rigel, if you're reading you need to give me some tips! I love your blog layout!!

The day was not such a great day. It started out ok with lots of errand running and checking things off the to-do list. I posted some things for sale on Craigslist for the first time ever and had 3 emails about one item in a matter of minutes. By 1:3o it was sold!! Now if I could just get rid of the rest of the crap!!

Then we had the dreaded doctor's visit. We hadn't been to a real pediatrician and had a well child visit in 2 years. Thought now would be a good time. The staff was great, rooms were great, doctor was great and thorough. But both girls had to have their fingers pricked to check for anemia. Charlotte was brave and went first. Cried a little and then was over it. Brooke started crying before she even started. Then Brooke had a couple warts they were going to freeze off. She didn't want to do that either. She was still complaining several hours later. Charlotte had to get 4 shots, cried the whole time, and happy 5 minutes later. Can you tell which one is the drama queen?

Certainly not this one!!

We took a bike ride the other night. Well, they biked, I walked.

We still have groundhogs!! I've started naming them. Willard and Clifford are two, the other two are yet to be named. So far, I haven't seen any of them in our kiddie pool.

Our bunk beds and kitchen table and chairs we ordered 2 1/2 weeks ago finally came! On our 10 year anniversary, no less. Oh yeah, yesterday was our anniversary. We were going to take the kids to dinner to celebrate but ended up putting all the furniture together instead. The kids love their bunk beds and want to play in the top bunk all day! Brooke even wanted to take a nap today and she never naps! I'll get a pic of the table once I have it situated and pics on the walls.

Don't you love the bedding?? I got it for sale at Target! Did I mention I love having a Target and Kohl's close by again? Well, I do!!

Goodnight!

Happy Father's Day!

I think Nathan had a good Father's Day. All he wanted to do was set up the projector in the living room (our make shift flat screen) and watch the race. But really, that isn't much different than any other Sunday ;-)

Plus, it's kinda hard to watch if you're sleeping. But believe me, he knows if you change the channel!
The girls made him Father's Day cards. Apparently he couldn't be bothered to look away from the race for a picture. But he did read the card. :-)
His present to himself: a new grill!! Really a present for me too since now I don't have to cook as much!
We had strawberry shortcake for dessert! YUM!

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there, especially my own!

Last days in Big Rapids

Charlotte's preschool class had a picnic at the park. They sang us one of their favorite songs. She's on the right side of the group, next to the girl in the blue dress (and Peyton, of course)
Brooke hanging out with Landen and Dawson.

We had a fun Memorial Day weekend, which I didn't even post about or take pictures of. We rode paddle boats on a lake and went swimming. We roasted hot dogs and s'mores with our friends and played in another lake. I was worried about my camera getting wet so I didn't even take it. But we did host our first sleepover. Charlotte told me she had a wish that Peyton could have a sleepover with her. How could I say no? We were getting ready to move and Peyton was her best friend. They all started out on the floor, then Brooke and Charlotte moved back to their beds. Peyton had a hard time sleeping on the floor and was all over the place. The number one reason we don't have sleepovers? Brooke, after falling asleep around 11 pm, woke up around 7:30 and woke Peyton up. They waited about 1 hour before waking Charlotte. The 4 year olds were not very happy.

Backyard happenings

We finally got the girls a kiddie pool. We seriously looked all over town last night. Apparently we waited too long. Last week we were more concerned on getting our house together and getting the essentials. We finally got this at Toy R Us with a built in slide. It's small but it does the trick and makes the girls happy. We didn't get it set up until about 8:00 last night so we went ahead and let them play in it.
We were out long enough to catch some lightening bugs. Charlotte is obsessed with them, Brooke is a little scared of them. You'd think it'd be the other way around. Anyway, they have fun with them.

Gotta love the cheesy, toothless smile.

What else is going on in our backyard? Well, we have some pets. Some unwanted pets, that is. There is at least four groundhogs living under this pool house and our deck. I have only seen three at one time, but Nathan claims there are four. I finally got some pictures of one today. Can you see it right at the corner of the pool house?

He's poking his head out of the hole.

Apparently there are stray cats as well. There were 4 or 5 of them hanging out today. I think one of the neighbor's takes them in. Thankfully, whenever we are out on the deck all of our animals are nowhere in sight. Anyone know a good way to get rid of some groundhogs?

Our new home

This is our new home! Well, new to us anyway. And it's only temporary, as it's a rental until we can buy something nicer. It's a cute little house, on a quiet little street. These are the pictures I took before we moved in. Right now, there's still a few boxes sitting around and not much on the walls. And we're waiting on our new kitchen table, which I hope comes soon!!

This is the front living room with a big picture window. New paint and hardwood floors.

This is standing on our deck looking into the backyard. The deck is huge and we hope to put it to good use this summer! First we need a nice grill and some patio furniture. Another view of the deck and the back of the house.

This is the den/family room. We are using it as a playroom. I know the wallpaper is ugly but it's only temporary!
The wood stove in the back of the family room. Through the doors is the utility room which has some storage and washer and dryer.

I must say, it is much more enjoyable to do laundry when it is on the same floor as the bedrooms. In Michigan I had to go up and down two flights of stairs to do laundry and sometimes I felt like it was such a pain. I feel like I can get it done faster this way. Oh, what a boring life I lead :-)

Just a picture of one of the bedrooms.
This is the one and only bathroom. Leaves much to be desired, I know. We did put new flooring down and put a shelf above the toilet. One of the reasons we won't buy this house.

The kitchen with new cabinets and dishwasher. I thought the oven was new but it wasn't working so we're getting a new one. Waiting on that as we speak.
g For all my church friends, we're less than 2 miles from the Louisville Temple. So...I'm offering to babysit if you come down to go to the temple. Just give me a few days notice :-).

We're Here!

We made it to Louisville! We are in our cute little house that we are renting and trying to get settled in. The neighborhood is very quiet and the neighbors are all very nice. We met a few people from church and they are all very friendly. I can't seem to upload any pictures of the house. I'll try again later!
Thanks for stopping by! Come back soon!
